Researchers at New York University Abu Dhabi have developed an inexpensive and simple tool called 'Spherometrix' for culturing, freezing, and storing tumor models to test cancer treatments. The tool relies on a specially designed filter to support the growth of tumor cell spheroids. Unlike traditional methods, which are often costly, complex, and not suitable for long-term storage, this tool provides researchers with a way to store a large library of ready-to-use tumor models that can be heated and tested when needed. The study was led by Dr. Mohammed Qasaimeh, an associate professor of mechanical and biomedical engineering.
